Day 204

I hope that you all have a safe New Years Eve!
This card was made from one of the applique patterns my sister Sue let me use. (Thanks Sue!!!) I scanned the pattern and converted it into a file that could be cut with my KNK.
The wing was cut from a silver glitter paper and I used the Cuttlebug swirl folder to give it a pattern. Her body is a red coredinations paper and I used the Cuttlebug paisley pattern with it. The star is a yellow textured paper and the hands and face a plain flesh colored cardstock and I chalked around the edges. Her checks were also chalked. The hair piece is a green textured cardstock and the berries are the same paper as the body. The Joy and Rejoice were both cut from vinyl. It was actually very easy, the only hard part was picking the paper.
More to come!

Day 203

This adorable bird is from MyScrapChick. I used plain navy blue cardstock for the main body with tail. I used a baby blue white core paper for the body and wings and put the wings through the Cuttlebug with the dot folder. I then sanded the dots and the edges of all of the baby blue pieces. The legs and beak are an orange coredinations paper. And the Happy Birthday is vinyl. Tomorrow is New Years Eve and the grandkids will be here to celebrate with us!

Day 202

This flower was in my "do something" pile. It was stamped and colored with watercolor pencils. I designed a square with an oval cut out  in the center to fit the flower and cut it with my KNK.  It looked too flat so I put it through my cuttlebug with a sizzix dot folder. I used stickles on the flower to "glam it up " a bit.
I actually got a lot done today! My sister Sue has made some wonderful applique things over the years and she was nice enough to share her pattern books with me. I scanned 3 patterns and then made them into cutting files.  I have about another 100 to go. :O)  They are all like paper piecing patterns so if you like that type of thing  these are fun. I also have some paper piecings from MyScrapChick that turned out cute, and a plaque that my daughter made for my Grandson that needed lettering. I will post pictures over the next few days.
I will be having the drawing for my "blog candy" in the middle of January, possibly the 18th so make sure that you are signed up as a follower to be eligible.

Day 201

Oh, I know, another rotated card. :O)
When the brain isn't working get out the Cuttlebug. All 3 cards were made with the Cuttlebug and a Sizzix Thank you folder. The first was with Coredinations whitewash paper and colored with colored pencils, the second was plain white cardstock and painted with chalks and a water pen. The third is just a gem paper. My favorite is the Whitewash paper. One can never have too many thank you cards!

Day 200

I made this tile for my Grandson Gavin. I always tell him he is my FAVORITE little boy. And he is!
The great thing about vinyl tiles like this is you just pick a font and type. Of course picking the font isn't quite that easy. :O)
The tile is 6x6, the font used ???, and it was designed and cut with the KNK.

Day 199

These little guys are so dang cute!
Linda, from our KNK yahoo group was sweet enough to give us the files for some mini boxes. They are only about 1 inch!
I had to make the penguin, and of course you can't just make one. This is just some of the flock that I have made! Using the KNK for cutting they went really fast. And if you need a bigger box, no problem, just enlarge the pattern to what ever size you would like. How cool is that!
Thanks Linda!

Day 198

Merry Christmas!
The two cuties with Santa are my grandkids, Gavin age 3 and Hailey Grace 9 months.
They make every day merrier for me!

Day 197

No pictures today, just a link to get you started on next years cards.
http://www.writeclickscrapbook.com/write_click_scrapbook/.

This downloadable printable file would make cute tags or cards! Browse her blog, she has cute ideas.
We are suppose to get a snow and ice storm Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so we may be staying home.
Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the Holidays!

Day 196

I found the image of this ornament somewhere on line and saved it as a jpeg. I then imported it into KNK, traced it, and made it a KNK image. It was one of my first traces and the edges aren't as smooth as they could be. I cut it from vinyl, ran some white cardstock through the Cuttlebug using the Sizzix snowflake folder, and then applied the ornament like a sticker. I matted the white embossed paper with red and added the whole works to a white card.
A zillion things to do today and the grandkids come at 2!

Monday, December 21, 2009

Day 195

This card was made with a circle, which I duplicated, and a rectangle. Line up the 3 pieces, weld, and you have an ornament card. Designed and cut  with my KNK. The font is Scriptina, which I outlined once and discarded the original (Just cut the outline) just to fatten it up a bit. It was cut from vinyl as was the gold ornament topper.
Yesterday I made 22 cards and thought I was done. But there were still a dozen people on my list. So I am making MORE cards, almost done. :O)

Sunday, December 20, 2009

Day 194

Did you ever have one of those days? It started with one of my kids waking me up at 5am. I had so much to get done today that I thought I would just stay up. Nothing has gone right since. :O)
I have about 20 cards to finish and everyone I have done is upside down or inside out. :O)
This card is a simple Cuttlebug card and a bit of stickles on the snow flakes. It is about all I can manage.

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Day 193

Two pictures today! The handsome guy on the right is my eldest son, Jim. He was helping a friend bake cookies.
The card was a hodge podge to say the least. I loved the paper but couldn't decide what to do with it. Then I made this little word tree in KNK Studio and exported it to word and printed it. But what to do with it???  I matted both the word tree and the paper in a red paper and the result was this card!

Friday, December 18, 2009

Day 192

This ornament started as a clear glass ornament and then I used 3 colors of alcohol ink and dabbed it on to color the glass. Then I cut an ornament topper from I Scrap Designs at www.paperthreads.com. Using my KNK I cut the topper from double sided cardstock and then just alternated which side was up. I put little silver embellishments on the tip of each strip and tied a bow on the top.  The ornament is much prettier than pictured, not easy to get a good picture!

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Day 191

Another penguin card! The penguin is from www.myscrapchick.com ,the background paper a printable from www.CuddlyBuddly.com/freebies/.
They have some cute papers that you can print. The snowflakes were cut from vinyl using the KNK. The Merry Christmas was stamped and embossed.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Day 190

Another dang rotated card. I don't understand how it rotates during the upload and once it is uploaded I don't know how to rotate it. So once again, turn your head. :O)
I had this file for a long time. It was one of Dawn's free files from way back. I cut the ornaments from vinyl and then a background mat of red cardstock. A few little bows and the card was done!

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Day 189

Thanks to Sharon of  http://rsmobleysdesigns.blogspot.com/ for the great Christmas words! I used the Merry Christmas to make this card. The tree was a simple triangle made in KNK Studio and then cut into 3 sections using white coredinations paper. Each section was then run through my Cuttlebug, the top using a Sizzix folder, the other two Cuttlebug folders. The tree trunk is just a piece of gold vinyl. The background paper is red glimmer.
Only about 50 more cars to make!

Monday, December 14, 2009

Day 188

Another card from Ginny's Happy Cuts. I am only 70 cards away from being done with my Christmas Card list and about a week to do it! This file I had for a while. I made the red and green one first and wasn't too thrilled. I then made the red and white one and liked it much better. The red paper is a glimmer paper and the green and white trees were both put through the Cuttlebug with the swirl folder. Both Greetings were cut from vinyl, no more gluing letters on! The snowflakes were cut from vinyl. I cut about 100 at one time and use them like stickers. The KNK is so cool!

Sunday, December 13, 2009

Day 187

This is a card that I made a while ago using a KNK file from Ginny's Happy Cuts at www.paperthreads.com. It is a word tree, a star,a pot and then it is matted. Pretty simple and it looks great. As with any intricate cut make sure your mat is sticky!

Saturday, December 12, 2009

Day 186

This card was made from a KNK cutting file from Ileana of www.IScrapDesigns.com. Her files can be bought at www.paperthreads.com. The card is actually the ornament, the red in the background is just a piece of paper. I cut the card from white cardstock, then cut the next layer from a red glimmer paper, and the white is a coredinations paper called white wash. I ran the 3rd layer through the Cuttlebug using the snowflake folder and then sanded the paper to bring out the color. I cut the hanger from a silver cardstock.I then used versamark and stamped snowflakes in the center and sprinkled glitter on the snowflakes.  It took me longer to write this than it did to make the card!

Friday, December 11, 2009

Day 185

First of all, congrats to my sister who finally figured out how to sign up as a follower!
Another square card. I used the sizzix snowflake folder to emboss the white and then cut a big snowflake from glittery cardstock using my Klic n Kut.
We have windchills of minus 25 degrees today. A good day to stay in but I am off to watch the grandkids. Now that Hailey learned to crawl she decided she loves the Christmas tree. Poor Grama. :O)

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Day 184

This card was made using a cuttlebug borders set. I embossed white strips with 3 different borders and then matted them with a red shimmery paper. The picture does not do it justice.  For those of you who follow this blog but are not signed up as followers you may want to sign up as followers. In January I am going to give out some "blog candy" to a randomly selected follower. Right now you have a one in 22 chance of winning. Leave a comment any time before the drawing and you will receive something extra if you are the winner.

Day 183

Another Day with lots of pictures. We had a major snowstorm come through in the past 24 hours. I shoveled a path for the dogs to go out and the snow was past my waist.
The second picture I did some "wall words" that I cut from vinyl and put up above our patio doors. It is easy to remove when the holidays are over.
And third is a card that I made with a file from www.myscrapchick.com . She has some cute paper piecing files and they are like .99 each. If you get on her mailing list she has a freebie each week.

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Day 182

This year I made some "recycled cards". I took cards I received last year, cut off the parts that I liked, and made new cards. These are 2 cards that I made from one card. One thing I will do differently next year is to make flat cards. I find I am spending a lot on additional postage because I have square cards or cards that have embellishments, both which require additonal postage. You would think you would just pay the44 cents plus 17 cents for the additional ounce but no, it is 64 cents per card. Bummer.
We are suppose to get 8-12 inches of snow in the next 24 hours and it just started. I have a lot of indoor things planned for the next 2 days! Let it snow!

Monday, December 7, 2009

Day 181

16 days until Christmas Eve, wow. I decided to make all of my own cards this year and seeing I usually send out about 100 cards it is doubtful that I will make it. :O)  I may have to go with who is "card worthy" (Seinfeld) and the rest will get store bought. But actually, everyone on my list is card worthy or they wouldn't be on the list.
Todays card was made with a Sizzix embossing file ran through the Cuttlebug. I used coredinations paper and sanded it. I then cut a window card using my KNK and it came out perfect.  The Merry Christmas is white vinyl cut on the KNK.Sorry about the rotation. No matter what I did it showed up rotated???

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Day 180

Todays card is a simple Cuttlebug card. I used a red Coredinations paper and ran it through the cuttlebug with one of the new Christmas folders. I then sanded it so the letters and snowflakes are lighter than the background.
I also have a picture of CAT, also known as Beauty.
For those who don't know CAT's history, she came to our house about 18 months ago. We are not cat people, although our daughter Tash loves cats.
As hard as we tried to find CAT a new home, one thing led to another and she now lives in our house, and, we like her. :O)
Although she has 2 beds in my craft room she prefers to sleep in the box with my recyclable scrap papers.

Day 179

This card is so sweet. It is a 6x6 card and then I made a 5.5x5.5 white piece with a 3 inch square window. It was easy to set up in KNK Studio and I cut 4 white window pieces from a 12x12 piece of white cardstock. I ran it through the Cuttlebug with the snowflake file. The picture in the middle was downloaded from the web and then sparkled with stickles.

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Day 178

This card was made using a file that was given to me by Paul and Linda from our KNK Yahoo group. The picture doesn't even begin to do it justice. The wreath is made from 3 very delicate cuts, but they cut unbelievably well. It was so much fun to make!
The card Linda made had much more detail than mine. She had snow on the window sill and a tiny red bird with a Merry Christmas greeting.
Thanks Paul and Linda!

Day 177

This was a purchased file so it was pretty simple to make. I have always loved this saying and it is so true. I know that I am different because I had children who were important in my life. One is sitting right next to me watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!
This was cut from vinyl using my KNK and applied to a 6x6 tile.

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Day 176

This little reindeer was made last year. He is cut from a textured cardstock. I am not sure where I got the file but do know that I had to import it, it was not originally a KNK file. It reminds me of the big lawn ornaments you see where the deer are cut from wood. He is only 4 pieces so it is pretty simple and of course you can make him any size.
If you would like the file email me at nancyk4@frontiernet.net

Monday, November 30, 2009

Day 175

This was a tile I made for my friend Colleen. I used a dark tile and the winter scene was from the font MarshMallow World which can be found here
http://www.fontspace.com/dani-foster-herring/marshmallow-world
It is a cool free font that is all snowflakes and winter scenes.
I did delete a few things from the ding and I added the star in the upper right corner which was from a nativity silhouette which was found online. It was cut from white vinyl with my KNK.

Sunday, November 29, 2009

Day 174

This tile was made with a "pattern" or file that I had purchased. I bought several files at the same time. What I discovered is that they did not all cut as well as they should have. This file I had a problem with the font cutting decent so I changed it and then added the star in the right hand corner.
I have been having a lot of fun cutting vinyl lately so you are going to see a lot of tiles. :O)
I did manage to make a few cards this weekend so I will get them posted soon.
Enjoy what is left of the weekend! We had snow today but it didn't last long.

Saturday, November 28, 2009

Day 173

On Day 163 I posted a picture of an ornament I made for my Granddaughter's First Christmas. When my grandson Gavin saw it he said "Where's mine?" So here it is. :O)
I used the same alcohol ink technique as I did for Hailey's and then I used Chrishmkbold font for Gavin and the opposite side has the year 2009. I added a small snowflake on each side. Hopefully Gavin will approve.
The other day Gavin and I were reading and there was a picture of a macaw. I told him "Grama would love to have a macaw". He told me he would like to have a pigeon. :O)

Friday, November 27, 2009

Day 172

My daughter and I shopped "Black Friday" today. It was a first for me and it was fun, mainly because I was with my daughter. :O) I get to see her husband and of course my adorable grandkids, but my daughter works long hours so time with her is always special.
Saying all that, it was my son-in-law who inspired this tile. He is the best Daddy and his kids adore him. It is an 8x10 tile, designed in KNK Studio and cut on the KNK. So simple!

Day 171

Happy Thanksgiving!
I am waiting for the guests to arrive! I hope I have everything ready and didn't forget anything.
At the retreat Sandy had some cute placecards that she had made and she shared the file with us. So it is what I made for our Thanksgiving. I used brown vinyl for the names so that I didn't have to glue on all the putzy letters. I made 30 of them and they went pretty fast. I used the Coordinations paper so I sanded the edges of the pumpkins.
Last Thanksgiving dinner doubled as our son Joshua's funeral dinner. He passed away the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I really don't remember much of it, other than I didn't cook, everyone else did.
As a family we are truly blessed. There is my mom, her 8 children, assorted spouses, both current and ex's still come for the Holidays. There are 16 grandkids and 9.5 great's in the family. In the 59 years since my parents married we only lost my dad and our Josh. We are a family that gets along and who support one another. Our parents did good!

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Day 170

No, it is not a card or a tile! I made this for my husbands snowmobile trailer. It has been on all summer using the Oracal outdoor vinyl and looks like new. It was fun to do and he applied it himself. Tomorrow is Turkey day at our house, should be fun. We will have 4 little ones from 8 months to 3 years and they always make us smile.

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Day 169

This simple card was made doing a scan and trace. I had purchased some note cards at Michaels in the dollar bin that had a leaping reindeer.
I decided to try to duplicate it. Using the scan and trace method in my KNK Studio it was very simple. I cut the reindeer from vinyl and applied it to patterned paper like a sticker.
After having the grandkids 4 out of the last 6 days and being up at 5 am for the past week, I am one tired Grama! I have some neat stuff to show you in the upcoming days so keep watching!

Sunday, November 22, 2009

Day 168

This card is so simple and sweet. I don't know who to give credit to because there was no name on the file. It was cut from white cardstock with my KNK and lined with red cardstock. How easy is that?
Update
My friend Colleen sent the following...

The beautiful Peace card on your blog is by Ginny at PaperThreads. The link is:

Thanks Colleen!

Day 167

The picture is enough to make you dizzy...sorry!
I bought a pack of 35 foam snowflakes for $5 at WalMart and then had to figure out what to do with them. My sister works at a group home so I decided to make a personalized snowflake for the residents and staff. I found all vinyl is not created equal. I had bought a small roll of Silhouette vinyl on clearance in baby blue which I used on the white flakes. It didn't stick to the foam very well. Then I used the Oracal repositonal, 631 I think, in white on the blue flakes and what a difference. It adhered perfectly. Of course the vinyl was cut on my KNK.

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Day 166

This card was made with a file that we received as part of the retreat. I love the way the rose turned out. The With Sympathy was a cut and print and then I had a file for the scalloped oval. The green background paper was run through the Cuttlebug with the swirl folder. It turned out to be a very pretty card. :O)
I sure do love my KNK! (And the Cuttlebug :O)

Day 165

Yesterday I was suppose to take my
MIL to my SIL's house because she had an appointment today.
MIL called to say she changed her mind and want to go this morning. So I had a few hours of free time that I hadn't planned on. I was able to get several projects done so that made me happy. This morning I have about 1 hour free and hope to get my craft room straightened up a bit. It is probably a month long job but in an hour I should be able to make a spot where I can work. :O)
Today I have 2 cards, both from I Scrap Designs at http://www.paperthreads.com/. It is actually a lollipop cover file but I made it into a card. I made two versions and decided I like the one with the white background better. The card on Day 156 is also fromn this file and there are a couple others included as well.  Both cards are 6x6 with rounded corners and cut with my KNK.

Day 164

I was putting away some things and came across this antique china dessert plate. I had bought a half dozen at Goodwill sure I would come up with a use for them. :O)
As soon as I saw the plate I knew that Joy, from Sam&Hailey's at http://www.paperthreads.com/ belonged on the plate. A little silver vinyl and it was done. The best part is when you are sick of it you can peel off the vinyl and do something different.
